It worked!

Well folks it worked! Turns out I wasn't the only one who had endured a less than happy start to the New Year, but by the power of positive thinking and a collective desire to start afresh, I am delighted to report that 2016 is finally full steam ahead!

Last week I managed to write every day and upped the wip word count by thousands. I know I've said it before, but writing before school and during my lunch hour really does work wonders and if I can type up the longhand in the evenings that makes all the difference and frees up my Designated Writing Days at the end of the week.

I can't say The Diet is going all that well, but I am eating more healthily, walking more and occasionally climbing aboard the shiny new rowing machine which is cluttering up the lounge! Those of you who know me well will be amazed to learn that my Galaxy consumption has been dramatically reduced and I've downsized from slabs to Ripples! I know. Surely that in itself is a move to be applauded?

On the reading front you may recall that my Brief Bucket List for 2016 included reading two Dickens novels I hadn't encountered before. Well, encouraged by Dickensian, which I just can't get enough of, I am now reading The Old Curiosity Shop. I wouldn't say I'm finding it a particularly easy going bedtime read, but I am enjoying it and have everything crossed for a happy ending for Kit, little Nell and her grandfather.

Having worked so hard all week I decided to take Saturday off. No washing, no ironing, no housework. I stayed in bed until after eight, read a bit, took a couple of walks, organised the beautiful leather writing journal my husband gave me for Christmas and enjoyed his fabulous mousakka for dinner.

All in all this has been a hugely productive week and whether that has been down to the renewed start, the cheery bunch of daffs on the hearth or the extra fresh air I'm not sure, but one thing I do know is that I'm set to do it all again!

Wishing you all a wonderful week, whatever you are up to!

  1. Just hoping a little bit of your energy runs off on me after reading this! P.S The Galaxy reduction is a huge achievement in itself.

    1. Oh bless you Wendy! Considering we've had such a mild winter we're all a little sapped aren't we? Maybe we need a short sharp cold snap to renew our vigour! Thank you for acknowledging the Galaxy triumph! H x
