I have to admit I was beginning to wonder if this story would ever appear, such is the popularity of Shortbread now, but the wait has certainly been worth it. Once I have submitted a story to the site I refuse to read it again until it is published. There is always a feeling of trepidation in putting your work out there into the world for public scrutiny but on this occasion I have been pleasantly surprised! I actually enjoyed re-reading the story and did not cringe once. A rarity indeed.
At the end of the day we are all our own worst critic and if we can produce something that we are satisfied with then well, who can ask for more than that?
