I hope to see lots of you this week in Leeds and Upminster where I'll be appearing for bookish chat, signings and a glass or two of fizz. In Leeds I'll be with Milly Johnson, Cathy Bramley, Lucy Dillon and Karen Swan and in Upminster I'll be joining Sue Moorcroft and Lizzie Lamb!
This week I've given an author talk to the lovely Wymondham Stroke Support Group and on Wednesday evening I travelled to London for the RNA Winter Party and industry awards.
This is my favourite snap from the night (taken by Alison French) and not only because it catches me up to mischief but also because it encapsulates the RNA to me.
Front and centre (and caught saying goodness knows what), I'm surrounded by old and new friends, all of whom are at different stages of their writing careers. Lovely Jean Fullerton is a prolific author, much respected speaker and a pillar of the RNA. Leggy Jenni Keer behind me is poised for her very first publication day in January and new RNA indie published chum, Victoria Leybourne was attending her first RNA event. Needless to say Jen and I had soon signed her up to the Norfolk and Suffolk chapter as she's a local lass.
What I love most about this shot is that it shows us all united under the banner of friendship and support provided by the umbrella of the RNA. We really are a truly wonderful tribe. If any aspiring authors reading this are wondering whether to try for a New Writers Scheme spot in the New year then I urge you to do it! Writing can be a lonely career but the friends you make through the Association ensure there is always someone on hand to offer support, advice and, if it has been a really tough day tea or gin! Or both.
This second pic from the night was another corker and taken a few hours later after my fabulous agent Amanda Preston (left) had been named Agent of The Year and collected her trophy. Helen J Rolfe and Christie Barlow were clearly trying to steal the limelight but I nosed my way in just as the shutter snapped!
All in all, it was a wonderful evening and I'm already looking forward to our pre-Christmas Chapter lunch in Norwich at the end of the month.
And how about the books?
Well, Snowflakes and Cinnamon Swirls is selling well and has attracted almost 50 fabulous reviews so thank you all very much indeed! And, as a special festive treat all three Christmas titles are now just 99p each to download!
Wishing you all a wonderful week! I'm looking forward to seeing lots of you during the next few days!
H x
