Welcoming Rosie Hendry back to the blog!

As you know, this week was a very special one for me as my third Christmas title, Snowflakes and Cinnamon Swirls at The Winter Wonderland, was published and I was lucky enough to share the day with some other fabulous authors who have also written beautiful seasonal books!

Rosie Hendry is not only the incredibly talented author who writes about the East End Angels (who I adore and have featured at least twice), but she is also a fellow RNA Norfolk and Suffolk chapter member and a very good friend. I am thrilled to welcome her to the blog this week to share details of her latest release, Christmas with the East End Angels, and also give some great advice to us writer types.

Words of wisdom from Rosie - writer types, take note!

Being a writer is a wonderful job, but it can be a lonely one. When you have a job where you work with colleagues there’s often a chance to have a chat over tea break or eating your sandwiches in the staffroom at lunchtime, but not for writers. We might go all the working day without speaking to or seeing anyone except for the characters in our imaginations who play out their lives as we write - so it’s important to get involved in groups of other writers who can fill that gap and become your work colleagues and your friends. You might not see each other every day but you can be in touch on line and meet up regularly.

I belong to the Romantic Novelists’ Association whose regional chapters allow members to get together with other writers who live in the same area. My local one is the Norfolk and Suffolk group, we meet for lunch in Norwich every two months and are in touch online in between. I’ve made some great friends through the group, we support each other and understand the need to write – it’s like finding your own tribe. No one thinks you’re odd for making up stories and spending more time with your characters than perhaps with your family.

The Norfolk and Suffolk group are always great fun to be with, we have great chats and there’s always much laughter at our meetings and there’s a strong bond between us. So, it’s been a great delight to share publication day with fellow member Heidi.  We have shared the ups and downs of writing our books over the years and to launch our latest ones out into the world on the same day has been lovely.

If you’re a writer, do get out there and meet up with others, you won’t be disappointed and may make some of the loveliest friends you’ll ever have.

Rosie Hendry lives by the sea in Norfolk with her husband and two children. She is the author of the East End Angels series, which is an uplifting and heart-warming saga series following the lives and loves of Winnie, Frankie and Bella, who all work for the London Auxiliary Ambulance Service (LAAS) during the Blitz. Listening to her father's tales of life during the Second World War sparked Rosie's interest in this period and she loves researching further, searching out gems of real-life events which inspire her writing.
