Ok. I've enrolled on a new creative writing course which begins in November. I have written a poem (a complete first) and made a very solid start on two new short stories which may well find their way on to Shortbread in a few weeks time.
See? There really is no such thing as bad press, it's how you react to it that counts! I am enjoying my writing again and that is what counts isn't it?

Glad to see you have turned the set back of stark criticism into a positive.
ReplyDeleteAt least the critic suggested you had a story to tell, you just need to tell it in a subtly different way. I'm a novice writer and I find the under the microscope piece in WM the most valuable to me as it point out issue most novices encounter.
I think it is important to not count the number of words, but recognise the words are of the highest quality, sometimes less word say more. That's what I'm beginning to realise.
