RNA News!

Hello all. How have the last few days been treating you? Well, I hope?

This week practically all my writing news has come courtesy of the Romantic Novelists Association.

At the beginning of the week my spring edition of Romancematters, (the wonderful magazine produced by the RNA), arrived and I was delighted and extremely proud to see my name included on the NWS to Full Member list.

Any aspiring romance authors reading this post should seriously consider joining the NWS in January if at all possible. The critique alone is worth the joining fee but the networking opportunities are invaluable.

Which brings me nicely to the lovely lunch I enjoyed in Norwich on Thursday with the RNA Norfolk Chapter. There were seven of us this time around, including new member Lorraine, who joined the NWS this year.

We spent a very merry couple of hours discussing all manner of serious literary issues including the current delights of Poldark and of course congratulating Louise Allen on her recent RONA Rose Award.

With all this frivolity you might think I haven't been working on the wip at all but I can assure you that is not the case. I have been writing longhand during my lunch hour and both early and late in the day and by Wednesday evening I had somehow produced 24 A4 pages!

Note to self: in future type up longhand notes every evening.

I have also written the dedication and acknowledgements for The Cherry Tree Cafe. To be honest I found it as taxing as tackling a synopsis but I was very happy (eventually), with the outcome.

And as if all that wasn't enough, I've also been planning, with the wonderful Books and The City Team of course, lots of lovely treats for when The Cherry Tree Cafe is published in July.

So you see, a nice mix of work and play has made the last week far from dull!

  1. When my Romance Matters arrived, I looked for your name - and there it was! Many congratulations. What a lovely moment for you to savour. Sounds like you had a good time with your RNA Norfolk Chapter friends. The Wirral & North Wales is meeting next week - all three of us (but it's all about quality, not quantity!!).
