Well, I did it. I knuckled down, stopped re-reading and wrote the scene I was dreading and you know, it was OK and I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. It was, as I thought, an intimate moment which required delicate handling.
In all the excitment I barely noticed that I had reached the 28,ooo word mark - bang on target for May - so the end of year first draft plan remains firmly on course and my committment still hasn't wavered so good all round. Half term in a couple of weeks will offer more flexible writing opportunities and more early morning sessions so you never know, I might even get ahead of schedule...we'll see.
