Welcoming Emma from Star Crossed Reviews to the blog

Today I am delighted to welcome Emma, the lovely blogger behind Star Crossed Reviews to the blog. She's going to tell us all about her blogging journey and give me to the opportunity to say a massive 'thank you' for her support and company at lots of publishing events during the last few years!

Hello! For those of you that don’t know my name is Emma and I have been running my blog Star Crossed Reviews for 4 years. I originally named it Chicklit vs Fantasy simply because those were my two favourite genres and I had a lack of inspiration. I’m a reader not a writer you see. In school I was always told I lacked imagination in creative writing. But one night the name Star Crossed Reviews came to me and I couldn’t get it out of my head so I fiddled about with some new branding and went for it.
Around 2 and a half years before I started Chicklit vs Fantasy I started a blog on blogger, I didn’t have it for very long, only a few months before I decided to give up on it. I couldn’t get on with blogger. I know lots of lovely bloggers that use it so it must just be me. I found the interface very difficult to use and nothing seemed to work for me.
I started that blog was because I had just finished reading I Heart New York by Lindsey Kelk. If you haven’t read the book then you might not understand why this inspired me to start blogging. Angela ups and runs from England to NY and she gets a job as a blogger for a magazine. This book is set before blogging was as big as it is now and Angela’s blog was more lifestyle based. However, I was extremely jealous of Angela and her new job. I’ve always wanted to go to NY, one day I will get there, and her job sounded so cool. I decided I love reading so why not start blogging about books.

What inspired you to pick up the metaphorical pen agan I hear you ask. Well I had just finished reading About A Girl also by Miss Kelk and I was inspired to write my thoughts down. I don’t know what it is about her books but something in them makes me want to write and write. As I said I have the worst imagination and I’m rubbish at making up stories but writing down my thoughts and opinions is something I am pretty good at.

I never thought this blog would grow as big as it has and I have to say a massive thank you to everyone who has read my posts, sent me books to review, interacted on the socials, let me participate in blog tours and any other way that has contributed to this being the best four years of my life.
At the time when I restarted blogging my personal life wasn’t great. I was living with my ex-boyfriend but the relationship was on the outs but I think that neither of us wanted to admit it. Sometimes its easier to bury your head in the sand. I met so many new people through blogging. Some of whom have been there for me more than I ever expected they would be. I am forever grateful to Aven Ellis for being my Momma. Aven helped to get me through some tough times when I first ended it with my ex.
I’m now 28 but if anyone asks my age I still want to say 23. I don’t know why but 23 sounds like such a good age to be. I live with my boyfriend and our French Bulldog Basil. He’s nearly 2 and I love him to pieces. I can’t remember our lives without him now.
I have 5 brothers. Yes I know you all just gasped or said wow that’s a lot! Growing up being the only girl does have it’s advantages, firstly I had no-one stealing my clothes and secondly I learnt exactly how to get the opposite sex to see things my way.
I’m a chocoholic and a bit of foodie. I plan my day around when I can eat next and constantly have food on my mind.
Well I think that’s quite enough of my ramblings for one day. I hope you all enjoyed getting to know me a bit better and thank you to Heidi for letting me drop by.

Say 'Hi' to Emma...
